Gynecologist 6 years ago Hi Shilpa, Drinking any kind of alcohol during pregnancy is very unsafe for the foetus. The alcohol can pass through the placenta to your baby and can be the reason for physical abnormalities or birth defects. It can also cause fetal alcohol syndrome. There is no particular amount of alcohol which is fixed or set to cause this syndrome. So I would suggest you to completely avoid alcohol when you are expecting.
