My baby can't speak

Rajiv Sinha
pediatrician
Hi Sanchi, let me tell you that , there is no standard age all babies should speak. Some speak early some take time.it is difficult to make suggestion as you have not mentioned actual age of your baby. Look for other receptive indications like does baby listen and understands the conversations? Does he or she follow instructions/ requests? Does he/she nodes or refuse through gestures? If yes then it’s a good sign. Baby will eventually speak. Please refer your baby to speech therapist. Good luck!!

Hi Priya, reading is skill acquired over the time by trying and repeating it frequently. Kids these days acquire the language skills early. The keep on adding to the vocabulary and remember the alphabet patterns and phonics. The average age for a child to read fluently in 6-7 years roughly during 2 nd grade. So keep on reading to him and cultivate the habit of reading from book instead of gadgets. One day he will be an ardent reader. As far your question about prenatal tablets are concerned, definitely you can go for prenatal tablets. These provide you with essential supplements and create conductive environment for conceiving. Good luck!!!

This is eternal question faced by most of the moms all around the world. To feed your child a healthy and balanced diet is a tough task. As individual human being we all have eating preferences and a favorite and hated food. Observe her eating preferences. Try to amalgamate healthy and nutritious elements into her favorite food recipe. For example if a child likes uttappa grate each and every vegetable into the batter and make it tasty with butter, cheese and spices. Same thing can be done with pav bhaji recipe. Make lunch or dinner time interesting by initiating conversation about her favorite subject. Show her popular food / cooking youtube channels. Good luck!!!

- Hi Arusa, congratulation!! Welcome to motherhood. It is perfectly all right even if you don’t show the “normal” size of pregnant belly. Every mother develops it differently. If your gynecologist is happy with baby’s growth and you are feeling healthy then nothing to worry about. Baby accumulates muscle and fat in third trimester so be ready for that whole round baby bump. Good luck!!!
